What is Microsoft Fabric?
There is great hype around this product right now and it is clear why. Microsoft Fabric will change how Data Professionals like Data Analysts, Database Administrators, Data engineers and Data Scientists will work together in the future.
Microsoft Fabric as a one stop solution for companies providing everything from data movement to data science, Real-Time Analytics, and business intelligence. Fabric offers a wide range of services, including data lake, data engineering, and data integration, all in one place.
There is no need to create individual Azure resources anymore. Instead all data professionals come together and share a common platform where they can work and collaborate wiith each other seamlessly.
This allows creating new synergies and less friction. All this can be achieved in a secure and governed environment provided by Microsoft
The basis for Fabric are Power BI Workspaces. To get started Microsoft provides a 60 day trial to experience the new Fabric hands on. And this is what we do in this course.
You do not need to have prior knowledge. This course is designed for beginners to get started with Fabric.
During the course we will learn how to create and use
Lakehouses
Warehouses (e.g. for Database Administrators)
Fabric integration with Power BI and how to build reports
Creating and using Notebooks (Pyspark and Pandas) (e.g. for Data Engineers)
the new Power BI version control experience using Azure DevOps, VS Code and our Fabric Workspace
If you want to follow along hands on you need the required licenses (see course requirements). If you just want to see the videos right now and use Fabric later when it is introduced in your company (that will happen sooner or later!) then you are welcome to the course as well.
